How Bold Uniq reclaims over 5 million plastic bags from the oceans every year
We have all seen the images on social media and the documentaries on Netflix, the world is facing a plastic waste crisis that needs immediate care and attention. The facts and figures are often abstract and hard to comprehend, so we would like to break it down for you.
Every year, eight million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the world’s oceans! That is equivalent to 2 Empire State Buildings being dropped into our seas EVERY SINGLE month. As far as we’re concerned, that’s around eight million tonnes too many. If we don’t make a change, by 2025 we will be putting enough plastic in the ocean to cover 5% of the earth’s entire surface in cling film!
At Bold Uniq, we’re committed to doing our bit to help crunch that number down! Our plastic-less promise is to continue to push for sustainable solutions in both our packaging and production. We will do everything in our power to help clean the world’s oceans and put the brakes on this plastic nightmare.
A BETTER CYCLE
The beauty industry is notorious for being plastic-heavy and environmentally unfriendly. Bold Uniq is committed to turning the tide.
With the help of Ocean Waste Plastic, we are proud to say that each of our bottles are made from the equivalent of 8-11 recycled plastic bags, reclaimed from our oceans! Our unique circular supply chain drastically reduces waste, which allows materials to constantly flow around our system rather than being used once and then discarded. But we do need your help, our bottles are all fully recyclable. So please do your bit and keep our loop flowing – recycle your bottle and box when you’re finished.
At present, the Bold Uniq supply chain has reclaimed the equivalent of 5.7 million plastic bags from our seas! With your continued love and support imagine what we can achieve with our Ocean Waste Plastic mission!
We’re hugely proud to be the world’s first haircare brand to operate with this practice in place. Our projections indicate that we’ll be recovering hundreds of metric tonnes of plastic every year, which is pretty exciting. It’s an expensive endeavor (nobody ever said saving the planet came cheap!) but to us, it’s a commitment that’s worth every penny. We hope you’ll join us in championing this remarkable change.
